Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin went to West Point right out of high school and served in the Korean War flying 66 combat missions. He has a PhD in astronautics and is the inspiration behind the character “Buzz Lightyear” in the movie “Toy Story”. He made history when he, along with Neil Armstrong, were the first human beings to ever step on the moon during the Apollo 11 space mission. For me he was in many ways a more real character than Neil Armstrong. He seemed more human in that he had his flaws, but seemed to come through them and remains a vibrant and real character. How many of you have seen the video of “The Punch”? From what I heard that guy deserved it…so yeah Buzz!
So what is the point of this Blog? Well, on January 20th, Buzz Aldrin will turn 80 years old and you can send him a birthday wish! The Planetary Society is collecting birthday wishes honouring his 80th trip around the Sun.
The birthday card, which already has birthday wishes from people around the world, will be presented to Buzz Aldrin, so be sure to go wish him a happy birthday using this link. Happy Birthday Buzz, you are certainly one of the reasons I’m writing this blog….
